Swedish Massage

One of the most common types of massage therapy

Swedish massage uses a variety of techniques to promote muscle relaxation by relieving muscle tension. These techniques are meant to relax you, stimulate nerve endings and increase blood flow and lymph drainage. They can also assist with pain management and reducing anxiety and fatigue.

Deep Tissue Massage

Similar to Swedish Massage but it goes deeper and has a different intention

This type of massage uses many of the same techniques as Swedish Massage but with more pressure to target the deeper layers of your muscles, tendons and fascia. This type of massage has many benefits. It can help to realign the muscle to release knots, release chronic muscle tension from ailments, conditions or injuries, promote correct muscle function, break down adhesions such as in scar tissue to relieve restrictions, and much more.

Pregnancy Massage

Also called Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy massage may help relieve some of the aches and pains of pregnancy. It can alleviate pain, provide relaxation, stress reduction, reduce swelling and promote better sleep.

Sports Massage

Considers sports and activity specific needs

Sports massage is for anyone from a competitive athlete to a casual exerciser. If you are physically active, whether it be for fun, stress relief, competition or fitness then sports massage may benefit you. It aims to improve performance, aid in recovery and rehabilitation, prevent injuries and reduce pain.

Indie Head Massage

Focus on relaxation and stress relief

Indie Head Massage is a form of relaxation massage that focuses on the muscles of the neck, shoulders, scalp and face. It uses a variety of techniques to help relieve stress, muscle tension, headaches, insomnia and jaw dysfunction. Warm oils are used and can be mixed with an essential oil aroma if desired, to stimulate and relax simultaneously.

Gua Sha

Use of a Gua Sha tool as part of the massage

Gua sha is the practice of using a tool, often called a Gua sha stone, to apply pressure and scrape the skin to relieve pain and tension. Gua sha is most often used to relieve tension from muscles.

Facial Gua Sha

Use of the Gua Sha tool as part of a facial massage

When used on the face, this technique can also improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Gua sha can temporarily improve the appearance of the newer and very gentle lines. It also promotes lymphatic drainage which can reduce fluid build-up, which can in turn reduce puffiness.

Cupping Therapy

Primarily used to relieve aches and pains

Cupping is a therapeutic technique that utilizes a vacuum force created beneath a small cup applied onto the skin's surface to stimulate your skin and muscles. This suction increases blood flow to the areas where the cupping treatment is performed, and is thought to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation and promote cell repair in that area. Cupping can be dynamic which means the cup is moving along the surface of the skin in a gliding motion which generally does not leave cupping marks, or static where the cup is left in a stationary position on the skin and can leave cupping marks. In my practice, dynamic cupping is the type of cupping that would be used.

Facial Cupping

Cupping therapy for the face and neck

Facial cups are typically smaller and softer. They’re used to gently pull the skin away from deeper layers of fascia. This increases blood flow to the area and rejuvenates the skin without leaving cup marks behind. Over time this practice is thought to improve the complexion and diminish fine lines and wrinkles.

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST)

Sometimes referred to as Craniosacral Therapy

This is a type of treatment that relieves compression in the bones of the head, sacrum (a triangular bone in the lower back), and spinal column. It uses gentle pressure on the head, neck and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression. It can, as a result, help to treat a number of conditions. It's thought that through the gentle manipulation of the bones in the skull, spine and sacrum, the flow of cerbrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized and this removal of "blockages" from the normal flow can enhance the body's ability to heal.
